The town of Castiglione a Casauria (PE) is 350 m away. above sea level on a long rocky spur flanking the Pescara River valley in the Gran Sasso-Laga National Park. It has less than 900 inhabitants and the houses are set against the main street which is also rich in ancient churches and palaces. In the flat part of its downstream territory stands the famous Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria (9th-12th century), a national monument. Near the Abbey there are stops for regional buses and those going to Rome's airports, and the A25 motorway exit is also nearby; the train station is 1 km away. The city of Pescara with the airport and the beaches of the Adriatic Sea are about 30' away, famous ski centers about 40', Rome 90' by car.
